What I’m wearing: Vintage coat, Reiss Cardigan, Uniqlo shirt, Jcrew arrow tie bar and pants, Express knit tie, Zara suede boots.
Hello from arctic land! Manhattan NY is finally showing off its winter wardrobe by casting its first blanket of snow and giving us a wind chill of 9 degrees Fahrenheit. How sweet huh? When it comes to weather like this I have one rule before stepping out of the house…the four layer rule. It’s simple really, you style 4 pieces of clothing (thinnest first, heaviest last) and you should be good to go for braving the city chill. For example, in the ensemble above I started with a classic white T-shirt as the foundation. Next I added a fresh, white dress shirt and a knit tie for some extra polish. Thirdly came the thick, impenetrable cardigan from Reiss which I favor during these frigid seasons. And last but certainly not least is the coat! I lean towards ones that have vintage embellishment to give my outfits some nostalgic character but if you would rather the simple route, that’s okay too I suppose. Oh and did I mention there’s a second option to the rule? If you’re a scarf-er then you can leave out the sweater or cardigan and tap in a knit or cashmere neck-warmer instead. Just giving you options because I’m your digital buddy after all. Hokay, I need to head to a lunch meeting but hopefully you learned something! Stay warm out there and check back tomorrow for a NYC travel guide: Brooklyn edition…by Nick. Buh-bye!
Ps. Never you mind about the new hair cut. The barber went a little too short on the sides but that’s when I remind myself I have a weed growing atop my head. It’ll be back in no time.
