I may be settled back in NYC, and freezing to death, but mentally I’m still in Europe. 2 weeks ago I headed out on a journey to visit 4 countries in under 14 days. It was ambitious but I had to knock out a lot of business meetings in each so I kept the ball rolling. I started in Gevena, then visited Charmonix, followed by Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin. Today I wanted to give you a glimpse of my 3 days in the German Capital from what to eat, what to see and where to stay. So let’s get started.
Things to do and see:
Immerse yourself in Berlin’s history at the Berlin Wall Memorial/Brandenburg Gate, Museum Island, Holocaust Memorial or go urban exploring to one of Berlin’s many abandoned places (Spreepark amusement park, Olympic Village, Beelitz Heilstatten Hospital, or Nazi or Soviet military areas)
Take in gorgeous views on high at the Reichstag Dome, Fernsehturm Tower, or Victory Column or you can stay grounded and enjoy Charlottenburg gardens, Tiergarten, or a stroll by the Landwehrkanal
Experience all of Berlin’s culture by checking out the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Clarchens Ballhaus, or one of the cafes, shops, art galleries or theaters at the Hackescher Markt
Places to eat and drink:
Taste what Berlin is all about at Tony’s Grill Bistro, La Cocotte, Cafe Bilderbuch (for brunch and breakfast all day long), Oderquelle for seasonal German, or Backerei Siebert for Berliners/Pfannkuchen. Don’t forget to grab some sausages at Konnopke’s Imbiss sausage kitchen or bockwurst from Curry 36.
During the day you can grab a coffee at Meisterschueler but at night it turns into a cocktail bar. Or you can check out the living room style Kptn. A Muller, one of the many biergartens like Prater, and for you crazies that never stop there is Bei Schlawinchen a dive bar which is open 24 hours a day.
