Happy Sunday! Today on the blog we have something special for you guys. It was a long time in the planning but we finally were able to execute it…a complete apartment makeover. You should know up front that I moved to Soho Manhattan over a year ago and I just didn’t have time to decorate or even buy furniture besides a bed due to my travel schedule and prior commitments. I collaborated with a renown interior designer from LA, Kyle Schuneman and Bed Bath & Beyond. Kyle has a book out titled The First Apartment Book which showcases several of his projects executed with a minimal amount of space. Since NYC is notorious for its smaller apartments (mine being one of them) I knew it had to be a great fit. Aesthetically I knew what route I wanted to take…”masculine, dark with exposed elements like wood and metal” to which he agreed! And so it began.
After working with Kyle, selecting the product from Bed Bath & Beyond and making some last minute changes we were ready to start the makeover process. First was to clean, clean and clean some more. When you travel like I do, you don’t exactly have time to keep home tidy. After ridding of my hoarding treasures they went ahead and started painting! I don’t know the actual name of the hue but I would describe it as “shadow grey”
The next step was to add the wall art which consisted of 2 paintings, 4 wood plaque’s and 4 framed flags. In the pictures you can see Kyle decorated both sets of 4 together, one in the kitchen and one above my bed. Following the art we put together the bigger items such as the new bed frame, armoire and kitchen shelf. Even Kyle admitted to being shocked at how many pieces we were able to accommodate in such a space! The finishing touches were all the smaller pieces like lamps, bathroom pieces, bedside table etc. and get this- they even hooked me up with a new latte and coffee machine, high speed blender, juicer, toaster oven and more. Talk about spoiled!

Big thanks to Kyle, Nick and the rest of the Bed Bath & Beyond team for being so generous during this collaboration. It came together like a dream and now when I’m home relaxing from my work trips, I can be in a state of true bliss and comfort.
