Can we get real about Valentine’s day? Yes, the sugar is in abundance, love is in the air (or on your dating apps) but for the rest of us, more often than not it means crippling loneliness. Don’t worry this isn’t going down a dark path, I just like to call a spade a spade. I’ll admit that my heightened love affair with work recently has put a wedge in my personal relationships and dating. I just feel underwhelmed with our generation, you know? Who remembers the days of chivalry? Heck, even love notes?! Western culture has reduced itself down to a “hey you up? lol” text at 3am. Real classy, gentleman. Instead might I recommend the sophisticated route? I teamed up with Express to showcase my own, vintage inspired love story in the hopes we can all take note from the past.
My character this editorial is a commuter. Works long hours, doesn’t have much personal time with his lover but hasn’t forgotten all the effort they put into the relationship. He’s dressed to the nines, ready for a candle-lit evening to which he’ll surprise them with red roses. This Express Dark grey, three piece suit with burgundy accessories via knit-tie & playful, polka-dot socks sets the tone for a romantic yet fun soiree. He could’ve opted for a more traditional approach with a black two piece, or even suspenders for a true the notebook moment -eat your heart out Ryan Gosling- Either way, clean up this Valentine’s day & show someone special that you know how to have a good time like a gentleman.
